Post by sbm »

you just need to copy a file called "xplorer2.exe.manifest"
reinstall will be the easiest way to do it (no need to uninstall first)

Nikos, tx 4 the feedback.
i hope re-installing won't re-set my preferences, etc.  In case it might, I do have the xplorer2.exe.manifest in the C:\Program Files\zabkat\xplorer2_lite\ folder. How wd i "copy it" (as u mentioned in ur reply)?
Does using the "XP Style" use Windows or Internet Explorer as a shell or GUI support?

if you reinstall without uninstalling you won't lose your preferences. To be safe you can create a backup first with Actions | Export settings

well, it didn't work as it did not ask me during (re)install process whether i wanted to use the XP Style or not.
just re-installed over and that's it.
perhaps ur suggestion to copy the .manifest file will work?
if so, can u please provide details on how to do it?
tx.

To get XP styles, the manifest filename (ahead of the .manifest extension) must exactly match that of the executable.
So ... if you rename it to xplorer2_UC.exe.manifest you should get what you want -- assuming you are using the unicode version which normally installs as xplorer2_UC.exe

If you didn't install the unicode version (& I assume we are talking Pro) then no XP styles, as far as I recall (but I could be wrong).

PS - what does Help | About xplorer² report?

About: 1.6.0.1 LITE

I do not have the UNICODE version.  Didn't realize 1 was available.  Is that only for the PRO version?

UNICODE version is only in PRO.
I normally use classic windoze view (not XP) so the only 'XP style' I expect to see is column highlighting, which I do see in my Pro version but not for the Lite version I run for test/support.
