I do not work with RAW files (yet), so I appreciate the opportunity to have a sample.
Thanks, TsunamiZ.
I expect that as I become more serious about my digital photography, I will graduate to cameras with RAW image output features and I will then be VERY interested in having thumbnails for these files.
Back to the thumbnail topic:
The sample given opens ok in my photoimpact app.
But, in the file managers, no thumbnail is shown for the file.
Neither in winExplorer (XPsp2, after installing the RAW thumbnailer tool),
nor in x2 ...
and the QV pane simply shows the first part of the file in HEX (no image).
[oops note: I reinstalled the thumbnailer later & got positive results. see below.]

i just tested again and windows explorer can show thumbnails for all .crw images. but x2 shows some but not others, which is strange. the images were all taken by the same canon powershot s60 camera at 5 megapixels .crw.
the previous image i uploaded actually worked for thumbnail in x2. this image doesn't though...

It turns out my initial install of the MS RAW thumbnailer and viewer did not 'take'.
Upon reinstallation, I get thumbs in both winExplorer and in x2 for both sample RAW files.
I note that the thumbnailer shell extension presents the 2nd images rotated horizontally, but the viewer erects the image as intended.
added:
I had QV off, but when I open the QV pane (Draft preview), I see wierdness for the 2nd sample (CRW_1205)
The image orientation remains horizontal, but the display field is erect (portrait), resulting in the right part (top if erected) of the image being truncated in the preview. (see below)
(The "Normal" tab QV pane remains blank.)

and, strangely, if I narrow the QV pane enough, the wierdness goes away, although the image remains sideways:

I have MS RAW thumbnailer installed (build 50) and I have xplorer2 set to thumbnail size limit of unlimited (0).
I cannot get thumbnails for .CRW RAW images from my Canon EOS300D in xplorer2.
Windows Explorer shows me thumbnails for all my RAW images, standard dialogs for other applicatiosn that give the option of Thumbnail view all show the RAW files as thumbnails as well.
I am running xplorer2 version 1.6.0.1 [unicode]
Should I grab the 'beta' link above and try that?
PS thanks for the app, for the most part it's absolutely brilliant, there are a few niggles that will I hope be resolved over time.

I'm a software developer, just for some point of reference.
I never plug my camera directly into the computer unless I am using the computer to take time lapse shots.
I dump files from the CF card using a CF reader and the F6 queue
I use Cygwin running an XGL X server under windows so I can use UFRAW for conversion to Jpeg and Tiff for further processing. UfRAW utilises DCRAW which is an open source RAW conversion library/app that has been used by many famous applications as the basis for their RAW support.
As UfRAW is a unix application running as a port under a Cygwin environement it does not use standard windows dialog boxes, this means it does not have thumbnail support for raw as the dialogs do not give a thumbnail option.
For this reason it is really handy to preview the RAW files so as to be able to easily pick which files I will convert using UfRAW. As I use xplorer2 for pretty much all my file management tasks I really loath going back to Explorer just to deal with my RAW files.
I hope this gives you some further background so as to help you help me get xplorer2 doing yet another wonderful thing.
