Offline Files: x2 beeping and hanging

Post by negg »

Hi!
New to x2 I am very happy with the product and plan to upgrade to pro once I evaluated all needed functions. But I already bumped into one annoying problem (used the search on the forums but did not find anything about this problem):

When I am on the road and I try to access my offline files x2 hangs at first. After a while (1-2 min) a message pops up saying "the share is not available..." (I'll be posting more details next time I see the message) and then beeps every time I change directories.

All I found was http://forum.zabkat.com/viewtopic.php?t=1039 but this is about an error message piling up...thats not whats happening here.

Anyone solved the problem?
Thanks,
negg.

i have next to no experience with offline files so i can't comment on x2's behaviour on them. But i bet it's as good as the next file manager - perhaps windows explorer excluded

these offline files are supposed to be "transparent", so this delay you mention would indicate that windows is trying to check their status or synchronize them. It's hard to tell

I guess thats right. Yeah, of course WE works fine, but I have no experience with other WE-replacements. Tried x2 and sticked with it :-) congratulations and thanks for that unbelievably feature rich piece of software!

I noticed there is a delay even in WE when first accessing a drive that is offline. But after that usually all goes fast.

But wait: I just notice that the beep, delay and errors seems to come only when clicking on a shortcut I created on a windows version with another language (I have one in german and one in english in the office and I copied shortcuts to network drives from one to another)...maybe its not even x2's problem! Will keep investigating!

Thanks again for x2!

No they don't: in the image below the upper window is a x2-window, below is the windows explorer where you can see the context menu showing that file as "offline" and also the small icon in the icon:

if you want to see the icon overlay in x2, check the advanced option "extract custom icon overlays"

Thanks, that worked. My little english knowledge did not allow me to interpret the text of that option correctly... ;-)
