Tools->Find Files NOT WORKING

Post by JEMShoe »

OS: Windows XP SP2
xplorer2 v1.6.0.1 LITE
--------------------------
Tools->Find Files does not launch the Window Explorer search.
I know I can set the registry szExtFindFiles to C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe "%s" and launch it that way but then I have to also select the search button on that tool bar.

Strange...xplorer2 works fine on my other XP machine as well as the Win2K but it does not work right on this one.

Yes, sir. But I am trying to figure out why this one is not working on this machine and works on the others. Is there something in the registry that is preventing windows explorer's search from launching?

I did not have to modify my registry on the other xp machine and it launched properly.

do you have a "find" verb in the shell context menu of your folders?

The shell context menu is what appears when one right-clicks on an item.
You should see a Find entry or a Search... entry when you r-click on a folder.

If I right-click on a folder I DO NOT get find or search. I'll see if I have that on my other machine. Meanwhile how do I add that to the shell context menu you refer to?

Oops, I made a mistake. I DO GET SEARCH. However, it does not do anything.

Maybe it did not make my statement clear... when I right-click on a folder I do get a Search option, however clicking on the Search option does not do anything.

As stated earlier, Tools->Find Files DOES NOT launch the Window Explorer search.

The only way I can get the Window Explorer search window to launch is to set the registry szExtFindFiles to C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe "%s" and launch it that way but then I have to also select the search button on that tool bar.

something has screwed up your search/find verbs for folders in the registry; compare them against those other systems that do work and you should be able to repair them
