Question Marks in Modified Date

Post by ndvr2stnd »

First off, Great App!  New user just today.

In the Date Modified column x2 displays the date and time, but with question marks intermixed.  Here's an example:

Instead of   "18-Oct-06 5:05 PM"
It shows   "?18-?Oct-?06 ??5:05 PM"
(both without quotes)

Any idea what's causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks,
Jono Martin

i heard of this before but have no clue how/why it happens :(
usually it only happens in the explorer date column, so use <alt+K> to select the stock [S] date column for better results

Ok.  Thanks nikos.  Is this something that on the ToDo list for a future fix?

it's filed as a problem but since i can't reproduce it (it's very rare) i can't tell if/when it's going to be sorted out

Have you had anyone else with the problem suggest any work arounds or fixes?  If it's rare, could it be that a simple reinstall will fix it?

The workaround is what nikos first suggested: use stock column(s)
(which are designated with [S] )

PS - (added later) - Even though the workaround is so easy, you may want to report your Regional and Language Options settings (found under windoze Control Panel) in case there is a combination of settings there which are untested with x2.

I have had the same problem for some time now, but I've been trying out the Lite version and sometimes I thought that perhaps the Pro Version might not have the same problem, but I was unwilling to gamble $30 that it would resolve it.  I update when available but the problem still hasn't gone away.

Your notes don't seem to help.  There is no "Date [S]" column to select.  The closest I've found is the "Modified [S]" column which is next to useless because all it says is things like: TODAY, YESTERDAY, THIS WEEK, LAST WEEK, THIS MONTH, LAST MONTH, etc.  Is that what you were offering as a workaround or did you think the Modifed [S] column would work differently?
In response to fgagnon, my regional and language options are set for "English (United States) and although he didn't ask for it, I have Windows XP Media Center Edition fully up-to-date with all Microsoft patches.

Have there been any revelations since October on this topic/problem?

if you want normal dates for modified, uncheck the "user friendly dates" advanced option
