MOVING FILES IN A FOLDER

Post by Alli9999 »

Dear all,

the xplorer2 is my favourite data manager as he has many powerful functions. But I miss following:

it is not possible to move a file within a folder. So if I want to move a file z to first position in this folder an error message occur: file xx cannot be moved, source and aim name is identical.

Anyhow it is possible to move files in the windows explorer. Has anyone an idea how to enable this function in explorer2 ?

Thanks and best regards
Alistair

By move do you mean the relative position of the file or folder in the list?, if so, then you can do this temporarily by using the Ctrl+Shift+cursor up/down key combo.

Beware though, a refresh will put the item back to where the sort order says it should go to.

Hi,

thanks for the reply but this is no solution. I used the program also to manage my pictures and therefore I want to sort new pictures and then rename them. But because the moving of the files is not possible I now again use the windows explorer for this. Hopefully in a new version of Xplorer2 this might be able, would be great..Cheers

although "desktop-like" placement of items is not available in xplorer2, the professional version has these "virtual folders" (scrap containers) that can be used successfully for such organization tasks. Have you tried it? When you have a lot of pictures this "desktop" concept breaks down simply because you'll run out of space. Whereas scrap containers can be as big as you like
