Hangs on startup getting worse

Post by drekka »

Hi all,
Had xplorer2 lite for a couple of months now and really like it. However a couple of weeks ago it started hanging when starting up after a system reboot. It shows two instances running in the task manager applications list instead of one when this happens. I would have to kill both instances and try again. Generally speaking it would hang twice before I could get a working launch. Each time the windows shows up and the two file lists show. It appears to be hanging when loading the folder tree.

It's been getting worse recently. Yesterday I started the system and had to launch xplorer2 lite 8 times and kill it 8 times before I got a successful start.

The only thing I can think of that changed is that I added a connection application for my SonyEricsson mobile phone. This application adds the phone as another folder at the same level as the desktop.

any thoughts on how to resolve this ?

As much as I like xplorer2, if I cannot get reliable starts I'm going to have to un-install it ;-(

ciao

first try to establish the root of the problem: if you suspect it's the phone, then turn off the tree, quit and restart. Is the delay gone?

ok, dumb questions time - how do I get the folder tree to turn off ? every time I use the view menu to disable it. It is active again on restart.

Thanks. I tried that and it made no different. It still hangs on startup 3 times out of 4. I don't know what's upset it, but for now I'm going to have to use something else.

Thanks anyway

I have the same problem when using a flash disk.  If I had opened any pane with the flash disk's content before closing xplorer2, then removed the flashed disk, xplorer2 freezes on start.

Since I always forget to point panes on other (fixed) disk's folders, I created a separate shortcut that roots xplorer2 to drive C.  So when the flash disk thingie happen again, I'll just close the frozen x2, run the rooted x2 shortcut, close it, and run the original shortcut.

Better yet, I had rooted the shortcut to my desktop, so I won't have an extra shortcut on my desktop. If you get what I mean :)
