I tend to use Universal Extractor whenever possible to convert installs to just executables.
It seemed to work fine with Lite ver. 1.6.5.3, but when I ran the executable, the usual triple screen opens, but the top toolbar is all empty squares, the second toolbar opens with lots of ???? marks. When I leftclick on the top toolbar, I get a contextmenu screen with empty squares and ???.
All files are in the X2 folder, it just was not installed.
BTW, I am in W2K, 2XExplorer is normally my default shell, and runs fine as a noinstal.
Does X2 require an install?

Must X2 Lite be installed?

need install
I do a cold boot each morning.
I just ran it again, same display (lack of it, actually).
I downloaded from your site, ran UE as I do many times, the resulting folder looked normal.
There is a subfolder labeled Snap containing many image files in the X2 folder.
Is this a clue? Should Snap be named something else so X2 can find it?
??
Thanks
BTW, Nikos, thanks for your reply to me in the 2X forum about loosing settings, it will take a little time to document just when it happens. It's variable.

must be installed?
I finally got an image (jpg file) of the x2 screen.
It's on my hard drive. how do I attach the image to this response so you can see it?
I see this for your IMg button:
Insert image: (alt+p)
But how do I do that?
Thanks

upload it to your preferred image host, and insert the link to it as the "image_url" in the insert image tool.
A commonly-used free image host is image shack: http://load.imageshack.us/

Thanks for the help, I will give up on the current version of X2 as 2XExplorer still works fine.

must be installed
I posted the image on that site, then there was too much registration nonsense, I gave up. With bad sleep as a senior citizen, I don't have the energy to do it.
So the image never got posted, but I did describe in text what the X2 toolbar looked like.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
