Multimedia files - preview in MPC???

Post by ZoNi »

Is it somehow possible to make Media Player Classic to be default preview "engine" for multimedia files? It would be great, cause MPC can play AVI, MPEG, SWF, RM, QT, MP3, pics, etc... and it is OpenSource, so that may be easier to "merge" somehow MPC and Xplorer2...

please...

it's a pity... MPC is much more powerfull than WMP, and MUCH smaller!

only WMP is guaranteed (more or less) to be present in most PCs

Nikos, I too use the MPC! It's fantastic. So if a user has exercised his option for this better application, let him change the player to MPC!

If we can change the players in this way, there's also VLChttp://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html: it can handle practically all formats, some with addon codecs....

it isn't as simple as it sounds
to be embeddable in x2 any player must expose itself as activeX and have a similar calling interface to WMP, the only protocol x2 knows about

nikos, I think that MPC is built on basis of old WMP 6.4 (that is still alive even on the XP systems!)... so, maybe, that can help

Can someone check up whether VLC fits this ActiveX requirement? Because I think MPC cannot be installed on NT4.

this is my first vist to these forums (i can remmebr when i've need much support for xplorer) should probably say i love it to bits.

but i felt strongly enough to join just for this topic, i'd really like to be able to change the previewer, maybe even if it was just an option somewhere.
doesn't have to be specifically vlc or wmc (anything but wmp [or rp i suppose]) even winamp would be interesting.

vlc would be my choice though.

Hi,

I'd love to see integration of other media players (or the option to) in xplorer2.  Has any progress been made since this topic was posted in 2005?

Nikos, VLC now provides ActiveX and browser plugin also.

How can we get it to work in QV of x2?
