Great program. Will be upgrading to Pro ASAP.
I have been looking at programs that are able to be run from a USB pen-drive. A term for this is 'portable programs'. There are also some proprietory versions (eg U3), but I instinctively avoid such schemes which can leave you high and dry when they petre out.
Xplorer2 would be perfect for this, and I have found that it works just fine from the pen drive. There is a proviso for doing this, though, in that pen drives have a finite number of writes that can be made over their life. If you run a program that frequently writes, say, configuration data 'back home' to the drive, you are going to stuff up the drive in short order.
Question: Does Xplorer2 write back to it's starting directory?
Another question: I also use Linux, which is sorely missing a good file manager like Xplorer2. Any chance there?
Thanks in advance
Al

x2 writes all registration and configuration details to the registry. This means that x2 would work fine on your home PC, but when you go to another PC that had no x2 installation, x2 would not 'remember' its settings.
There is a thread somewhere that talks about how to use x2 in a pen drive, but It was not a complete solution.

if you don't care to change your settings too much, you can have a fixed REG (settings) file alongside xplorer2 on your pen drive and use it to always have your favorite settings with you
so first you tailor x2 how you want it, then use Tools | Export settings to get the REG file and use it from there on wherever you go
