Thanks for the prompt reply. I was going to use the precompiled AutoIT executables from here, but the links are no longer activefgagnon wrote:Please see this topic, et seq...

In all likelihood, if there's a way to further customize keyboard shortcuts as mentioned before so that i can use ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab to switch tabs, I'll move to tabs-only, but for right now having it come into the foreground would be great :/

not much -- the statement of concern is mostly from heritage habit of old f@rts (like me) who recall how dear memory used to be.
But Mbytes are so cheap now that it's usually more effective to not worry about it (unless your system is memory-starved for the way you use it). Best thing is to just try it and see if there's a problem in your case. I'll bet there's not.
PS (re: your earlier statement "... so that i can use ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab to switch tabs ...")
Although you cannot customize KB shortcuts to use the tab key, there are shortcuts for changing the active tab.
viz: Ctrl+Alt+leftarrow & Ctrl+Alt+rightarrow.

Well, I decided to try going tabbed and it was pissing me off because it -still- didn't activate the window and bring it to the front. Due to that, I actually wound up downloading AutoIT and modifying that script for my own needs. Now, whether I've go tit in tabbed or windowed mode, here's what it does: Is xplorer2 open already? Ok, if it is then open the folder specified and bring it to the front. It's not open? Well, let's open the folder needed! It took me a while to figure out how to integrate a variable such as %1 from Windows, but I got itfgagnon wrote:not much -- the statement of concern is mostly from heritage habit of old f@rts (like me) who recall how dear memory used to be.

Yeah, I know about that, but it's kind of tedious for me compared to the 1-handed tab scheme. I'm trying out using capslocok insstead of tab right now, but I think i'm going to have to try something eslefgagnon wrote:PS (re: your earlier statement "... so that i can use ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab to switch tabs ...")
