A member named "babac" posted this a few days ago:
"Is it possible to open a folder e.g. from left pane, so that it opens content in right pane?" (not exact quote)
The answer given to him was to use Alt+Enter.
My question is: is it possible to add an icon to the main Toolbar that will let you toggle this on/off (like the "Mirror" icon does) so that instead of pressing Alt+Enter you would just double click on a folder on the left pane and it would open in the right pane.
Can this be done? it would save me tons of hours! Oh, and many thanks for this great replacement to that pestering Windows Explorer!! :P
Open content of folder in another pane by double-clicking?

Thank You!
Many thanks for the prompt reply! pressing ALT and double clicking is certainly better than ALT+Enter. Its too bad about adding the Toolbar icon I was talking about, but this will do just fine. Many thanks again for your help and for this great program! :D

Hi Higado,
Even I would like to see some generic solution your problem. I face it every day. The toolbar button that you want is similar to the locked tab behavior that we had requested Nikos. Unfortunately it’s not coming our way

Let us all hope that Nikos might change his mind someday. Nevertheless xplorer2 is a gr8 program.

ALT+double click behavior depends on keyboard input locale
I'm a newbie who couldn't imagine that Xplorer2 wouldn't open a folder and show the contents in the other pane. ALT+ENTER works just fine, left or right ALT key, but I use the United States-International keyboard localization (a regional option) and get different results when I double-click with the left ALT key depressed than with the right ALT key depressed.
Left ALT+double click does what I expect; the contents of the selected folder are displayed in the other pane. Right ALT+double click, however, opens a new instance of Xplorer2 with the other pane unchanged and the original pane replaced by the contents of the selected and ALT+double clicked folder.
Just thought some folks might want to know what I see using Windows 2000.
Xplorer2 is a GREAT
utility; why hasn't Microsoft bought it from you?

In an international keyboard lay-out, the right Alt-key has an entirely different function. You can use it for modifying keys for typing accented characters and symbols. If you don't want that, switch to a non-international keyboard (somewhere in a difficult-to-find place in the configuration panel
). It's either having two 'true' Alt-keys to your disposal, or having the comfort of easy typing accented characters and only one 'true' Alt-key.

I believe the "different" key is commonly called either
Right <Alt> or <Right Alt>
Example page
It is usually beside the spacebar, and not in the [gray] keypad area.
