I am finding that the sort order of date modified doesn't sort properly. Dates remain scattered seemingly willy-nilly and refreshing the view only makes it worse.
Is anyone else seeing this? I want to like this, and get the professional version, but this is show-stopper for me.
I previously was using PowerDesk, and long ago used 4Dos, so I am not a newby, but perhaps there is something I'm missing?
Thanks!
RW
Sort by date in details mode inaccurate?!

Works fine.
A couple of factors:
1. If you have pressed CTRL+D, the folders also will show size. Then when you sort the pane, they too will get sorted.
2. There is a program setting to sort folders like files, separately, or in mixed mode. See p.320 of user manual.
Hope you are using the Details view? Then you can activate the "modified date" column and check this (press ALT+K to choose columns.)

Hi RW,
Welcome to the board, fellow former 4Dos user!
...and after 4Dos on DOS machines,
I switched to Q-Dos on Win 2&3.x
...
Back to the Q at hand:
I do not see the issue you describe. All my date parameters sort properly.
Checked in details view, clicking on desired column-heading for sort.
{using x2 Lite v1.7.0.5 on XP+sp2}
Can you provide a bit more detail on how you are set up when the issue appears.

2. I found the 'mixed' vs folders on-top. Not it.
I ONLY use the details view! Why would anyone not do that! :D
I have a screen shot, but not sure how to post it. (Cropped and in a jpg)
Thanks!

Currently x2Lite 1.7.05 on XP SP2. Directory pane and file pane (aka WinExporer) and nothing fancy.fgagnon wrote:Hi RW,

I only use the details view, and I click the Date Modified column to sort old/new or vice versa. I suspect something in the background, or a switch I am missing somewhere. Please see the screen shot I sent previously.
BTW, my grandmother was a Gagnon from New Hampshire. Interesting.
Thanks!

@ see the screen shot ... ???
unfortunately, this bbs does not support uploading images directly, so one must use a third party host and provide a link to the image.
(The "Img" button above the text entry box is a useful tool to embed the image into your post from the link to it.)
FYI - One commonly used free host is http://imageshack.us/
PS re New Hampshire Gagnons - not likely closely related & prob difficult to track because of sheer numbers going back to Montreal & Quebec.

Thanks! Much better.nikos wrote:try using the other [S]tock modified date column
I did that, and then found the way to turn of the 'helpful' date/time so it showed the actual date and time rather than 'last week'.
Might I be correct in thinking that the file date/time stamps are a single 'entity' and that is why no one makes the attempt to parse them into columns or make them easier to visually scan, since that would take too much code/time? MS doesn't, nor PowerDesk. I'm just curious.
I''m sure I'll be putting in an order for the Pro and the Portable in the next week or two!
Thanks again!
