Disconnected Network Drives

Post by mvasquez »

I searched but could not find a similar post for this. My laptop has mapped net drives on my home network. When I am connected to it, I can open xplorer2 lite w/no problem. When I am disconnected and I open it, it hangs while it appears to try and search the mapped net drives. Windows Explorer has no issues. Any thoughts?

if you leave xplorer2 browsing an inexisting network folder, then when you reopen it it takes some time to realize it's not there. Is that what's happening?

Yes and no. That is sometimes the case but I have noticed it also happens when I boot the laptop off the network and try to use it. More specifically it happens when I click on My Computer so it lists all my drives.

hangs when network incomplete

Post by Klystron »

I just upgraded from 2xexplorer to xplorer(lite) v1.7.0.5. Love it.

I have two computers  (both WinXP-SP2) on my home network, connected through a router (actually a DSL gateway, 2Wire 2701HG-D) and xplorer2 hangs if one of the computers is off. 2Xexplorer did the same thing.

Symptom: when launching xplorer2, sometimes a window opens but just stays white forever, sometimes no window at all. Task manager says it is not responding. I have to manually kill it.

The only workaround is to use Windows explorer until the other pc is started and connects to the network. Windows explorer handles this condition with no problem; it would be very nice get this bug fixed in xplorer2.
