Not enough space error message

Post by sheldon101 »

Hi:

When I try to move files and there isn't enough space to move all the files I get an error message that ends "There isn't enough free space on the device".

This is message has only come up after I've reinstalled windows xp and xplorer 2 lite.  Before the reinstall as many files as would fit were moved  and then I got an error message.  Because I'm copying files to an MP3 player, I really prefer this because it lets me retain folder structure.

So what changed and where can I get back the earlier behavior.

Thanks for any help

could it be that you have run out of disk space?

Yes, I will run out of disk space if everything in the 'from' folder is loaded.
What I want is for xplorer to load as much as possible and then stop with an error message.  It used to do this for me.

Doing it this way means I don't have to calculate free space requirements when using xplorer to copy files onto my mp3 player.  Because I'm using it for podcasts, I've found this much easier to do than trying to synchronize the player.

In fact this is one of the strengths of x2 over Windows Explorer. The warning can be ignored at the beginning. Later, when the disk is full simply abort the remaining transfer. (But in general, the user is prompted to insert another disk.)

I would like it if xplorer just gave me a warning when I try to copy more files than there is space available.  Instead, it stops and gives me the error message. When I click Ok, it doesn't start the transfer.

I'm thinking there's a little switch somewhere that controls this behavior. That's what I'm tryiing to find.

you must be referring to the "robust copy" <f5> command which is only available in the professional version
