Feature suggestion for x2

Post by Morning Star »

Hi Niko,

I have been looking through the possible explorer replacements, and none
of them have a particular feature that seems to me to be very useful: sticky selections in the tree view.

Now, I understand that it would not be possible to view the contents of multiply selected folders, but this has another use... The ability to copy/move multiple sub-folders from different parents.

For example, if I wanted to copy c:\dir1\sub1\subsub1 and c:\dir1\sub2\subsub1 and c:\dir2\sub3 etc.. to c:\dir4, then this would currently by a time consuming process; with sticky tree selections, I would just need to expand the tree, then select the desired folders, and voila, easy.

btw, x2 0.25a is looking really nice... a great clean interface... :D

unfortunately tree controls are limited to single selection by nature

however a scrap frame (in x2) would be the next best thing:
* use Window | Scrap frame to create one
* drag all the folders you want and any individual items in this frame
* Select all and hit Ctrl+C (F5 will work in the future too)

I kinda guessed that about the tree controls from the fact that nobody seemed to have any sort of multiple selection... oh well.

The scrap frame is a great idea; any possibility of making it dockable?

btw, I run a dual monitor system, and when (and only when) the scrap window is wholely on the second monitor, I get an assert error whenever I drag a file into the scrap window...
(I can't seem to upload the screen dump of the assert message, so I will email it to you...)

I also get this on dual monitor and triple monitor systems

Debug assertion failed

<snip> \cpp\kenny\minlist.h
line 146

Expression: pNode==&m_Kefalari || IsMember_(pNode)

If I retry it performs the requested operation then Bombs X2Alpha.
