OK, enough about other people's software :) - here's a solution that I've been looking that has limited players in the market and it's something at which you would have a running start. A robust file tagging solution! ADS just isn't reliable enough & a lot of files won't even let you write comments to them. An app that lets me tag my files in an easy way and offers a high degree of reliability would be a total winner, for me anyway. The tagging should be portable but there could be a monitoring app running in the background updating overall stats etc - a global interface could be presented, sort of a control-central. Since it is a file locating solution you could integrate it with a file search app (files monitored in realtime + usual advanced x2 filters +  appropriate previews for different kinds of media) - put all this together and you have a killer app.  :D

Better hurry up Nikos coz if you don't make it I will!  :P
Sounds great

Incidentally, tags have been introduced in XYPlorer and they're getting dual panes in the next release.

I tried the latest version (XYPlorer) but it still falls short when compared to X² in several ways. X² is (I don't know how exactly to word this) more directly connected to the Windows Explorer shell and that is a huge advantage, IMO. Also, the variety of filters available in X² for color coding, etc can not be matched.

Nikos, have you tried, "Everything"? It's a (330 KB, Freeware) file finder that uses the NTFS journal, which makes it unbelievably fast. The down side is that it works only on NTFS volumes. I wonder what the chances of incorporating some of this functionality into X² are?
Anyway, I hope you atleast try the app if you haven't already to see what it's capable of.

from the looks of it this "everything" creates an index file and maintains it from the change journal. One day I'll have something that works on top of the WDS indexer
