Windows 7 support?

Post by stevecrane »

Are there any known problems under Windows 7?

I've been running version 1.6.5.3 happily under Windows XP SP3 but having recently installed the Windows 7 RC I downloaded the latest version 1.7.1.4.

The very first function I tried, namely Select Drive (Alt+F1) doesn't work. Whether I press the keyboard shortcut, click the toolbar icon or menu item, nothing happens.

Having both a new OS and a new version of x2 I don't know whether this is an OS incompatibility or simply a bug that has crept into this later version.

That (and an inoperative drive bar) is a known win7-specific issue.
nikos indicates he has contacted MS about it; but I do not know the resolution at this time.

Great thanks. Any suggestions for easy workarounds to quickly select a drive?

Workarounds are two-step, and of the form:

1 - Go to "Computer" any way you prefer
e.g.: click "Computer" in the Tree pane if visible;
or: click the double-caret "«" in folder pane title bar.

2 - click (or d-click) on the destination drive -
either in the Tree pane if visible; or in the Folder pane.

You can also quickly select a drive using the keyboard shortcut Control+Shift+drive letter. For example, CTRL+SHFT+C navigates to the C: drive.

Thanks, longfellow -- I forgot about that KB shortcut.  :oops:

Thanks longfellow, that's probably even better than the Alt+F1, C used with the drive list.
