Of course you could always fix this for me by adding an option to remove the MenuBar completely ;-)... hah

Oh you must love doing that, don't you?  Well thanks for the pointer, I guess it's been a while since I read the changelog!

Update:  Oh!  Oh!  DPF_SHOW1TAB!  So many goodies in here...  I must have missed that one, it's old!

do you have a 64-bit version of that alpha?

first quick look of the 32-bit kenny on 64-bit win7:
> drivebar is populated, as is Alt+F1 drop-down menu
> QuickView bg color for folders is Black- not the Gray it should be.
> QuickView preview size for jpg images still does not fill the pane.
> trying to access a USB-connected drive with drive bar button resulted in a core dump crash (not sure which one it was. I will try to repeat later with dbmon running)

Later...
> the crash reported at first use (above) is not reproducible and the "core dump" notication window seems to be part of the normal shutdown of the alpha/debug version writing the minidump to file.
> drivebar responds to drive availability (plug/unplug USB drives) and the buttons work correctly.

View -> Small Icon, Spacing Issue?

Post by Thracx »

Sample A

Sample B

I don't normally use the small/large icon views, but I was playing around with Win7x64 again and noticed that when I switch to Small Icon view from Details view, the spacing is different from the spacing used when I go to it from all views.  See Sample A - why is the second row moved over to the right?  This does not always happen and isn't completely random - it always happened from Small icon view, never from Thumbnail view, and usually not from other views.  Yeah that makes no sense to me but I swear I'm sober right now!

Sample B shows another instance of this where it's a little more clear... the first 2 rows of the listView are blank!  This is almost certainly related to the large DPI setting which I am using on my HTPC.

Not that in Sample B, you can also see that...
  • A) ...the drive bar works :-)
    B) ...the 'drunk main menu' problem still exists
    C) ...the 'font change on new tab' problem still exists (the fonts in Sample B should be identical to that in Sample A - I didn't change them, that happens when I open a new tab)
Also, the Control Panel issues are still present.  Most control panel applets 'open' into a blank list (enter or doubleClick on them), while rightClicking the default (bold) menuItem does result in the correct behavior (opens the applet).
I have new information on this though...
  • A) some items do work, such as 'Administrative Tools' (which should open to an item list and they do) and Windows Cardspace (the applet on this one does open properly..).
    B) Opening 'Control Panel' from the 'Desktop' opens the Control Panel in Explorer just like if I had opened it from the Start menu

Update:  This only happens when I open one of the 'Control Panel' items from the 'Desktop'...  See this Sample C.  The one that is selected opens in X² and shows a list of Control Panel categories (::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}), while the other launches Explorer showing the Control Panel in small icon view (or whatever view I had put it in last).

i can't see any of your snapshots but anyway 1. small icon view is all but abandoned by MS so it's full of glitches, i recommend using the list view mode if you want small icons. And the control panel has grown more and more weird as time goes by, and since it is marginally considered "file management area" i am prepared to turn a blind eye :)

Non-Functioning Drive Bar

Post by nakedparrot »

I now have the TechNet final release of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed on my system and still the Drive Bar is blank.  Is there a fix for this or can we expect a fixed update to the program?

Thanks.

I have run Xplorer 1.7.2.4 x64 on most builds of Windows 7 and the Drive Bar has been blank on all of them.  It's still blank on the TechNet final release.

Didn't realize there was an update.  Thanks very much.  Just downloaded 1.7.2.6.

Much appreciated.
