If the files in a directory begin with "APP1_" and I want to change them all to "APP2_", how can I do that with Xplorer2?

That kind of renaming is not supported by x2 itself, but can be accomplished with a helper application.
In the User Manual, under Applications that extend x2’s functionalities, there is reference to a couple of good ones:
THE Rename and
MRename
and on the board some folks swear by Renamer
I have used them all. They are all good. Take your pick. :)
