Max list column width

Since some time I Experienced strange display with xplorer2.
I have a three pane view, the tree plus 2 panes, each pane have 4 tabs. When I launch Xplorer, the pane with the focus displays like it should but all others have a very short column width, so short than names have 12 chars displayed with 3 dots at the end. To have the right display in all panes I have to set the Max list column width with a value between 300 and 500.

My computer is XP SP3 with all hotfixes running on 1920x1200 60Hz 32 bits.

Any idea what's the culprit?

i've heard of this problem before but i've never seen it myself. The workaround is to use the max column width as you have discovered
