Version for Win7 / x64?

Post by Markstar »

Hi,
I just installed Windows 7 RTM and xplorer2 lite. Sadly, I noticed that neither the context menu nor the drive icons work.  :(

I did install the pro x64 trial and it does work there.

Are there any plans on integrating the lite version into Win7 as well or do I have to get the pro version?

Thanks in advance!

the lite version has been updated and works for win7, see the website. However, if you need a native 64 bit file manager then you need the professional version. You can get a free 21 day trial here:

Thank you for your answer...but did you even read my post?

I did say that I just installed a Windows (and I thought it was obvious that this meant that I also used the most recent version of x2 lite. If not, I'm sorry and yes, I had downloaded the most recent version) and that I did try the x64 trial version already (where everything worked).

But since file integration of Win7 did not work, my question remain:
Are there plans for a version of xplorer2 lite that correctly works with Win7 (x64)?

I don't need a native xplorer2, just as long as it works!  :P

Thank you!

which lite version did you try? double check your about box and compare it to the website

some context menu items that are for 64 bit extensions won't work by definition for the 32 bit lite version. What do you mean "drive icons won't work"?

there are no plans for a free 64 bit version sorry, however the latest lite is win7 compatible

AFAIK, that is the latest version. You can also see what I mean by drive icon. BTW, that also applies if I customize the drive icon (via the registry, which I normally do for my card reader and it has always worked in XP + lite).

Furthermore, the context menu does not work, e.g. Winamp or 7-Zip do not show up in the lite version, but the do so in the pro as well, of course, in the normal Explorer. Only the standard context menu is shown.

you have the latest version allright

the icon problem is for that E drive, right? I think the lite version has problems picking up customized icons, did you try the professional version? Also see here:
www.zabkat.com/blog/17Aug08-customize-drive-icons.htm

finally the context menu is expected behaviour of a 32 bit file manager working with 64 bit extensions. To see winzip etc items in the lite version you have to install the 32 bit version of winzip

You are kidding, right? You want me to write for a 3rd time that I have tried the xplorer2 x64 (which only comes as pro) trial? :?

Then why doesn't Winamp work? That is a 32 bit program and it doesn't show upin the context menu either.
