Lite has a bug with .tib files
If I use lite to create a text file with a .tib file it shows up as a folder type in xplorer2 lite. There is no problem using another navigator application to create the file nor Windows explorer.

To be fair to the OP, I believe he's referring to this:

I'm not sure why this happens, but it does. Even more obscurely, TIB files are (primarily) known as True Image Backup files, and are associated thus on my system.
When he states "There is no problem using another navigator application to create the file" leads me to believe he does not have True Image installed, so I don't think it's related to that programme.
Creating a file with any other extension seems to work dandy, so I'm lost for explanation. (This happens whether "Treat Zips as folders" is flipped or not... so again, any compression format wouldn't flag an issue.)

I'm loathe to jump to the conclusion that they are folders (in the proper sense) without more information from the OP. Like I said, they're associated with True Image (on my system, at least)... possibly he had installed it as a trial at some stage, and this is a leftover effect - but why another (explorer) programme wouldn't have the same result, I know not.
These only have a folder icon because the real TIB files are (obviously) compressed archives. But this shouldn't be true of TEST.TIB, as it was simply created via F7, no other actions taken. It does class as ---A-----, though. Does file-association automatically assign properties? I always assumed it was more of a benign "open with" indicator, for potential latter corruption by said application.
Due to my use of True Image, any information I offer is suspect.

Not really, as has been discussed elsewhere in the forum.
It should be noted that this F7 file can be edited as a normal text file if explicitly opened with an editor. If left-clicked, obviously TI intervenes and is suitably bollixed, to use the colloquial.
