Font size in toolbar??

Post by Subito Piano »

Hi!  I didn't see this in the forums or instructions, or the css file.  How does one change the font size in the toolbar?  I want both icons and text and the default font size is a little small for me.

Thanks!

use the hilighted slider from the gui registry settings editor to enlarge the toolbar font (100 and up should do it)

Thank you, thank you! :D  Looks like a lot of options there.  ( I did see a note about this location during installation but did not find it afterward.)

I might add that raising the font size inversely effects the number of characters one can use in a name, without it being obscenely truncated and concatenated with '...'.  (Yes, this is a pet peeve of mine. :))

For instance, unfortunately I'm "forced" to use a font-size factor of not more than 78 if I wish to have a bookmark named "Documents" fully displayed.  Certainly this can be easily abbreviated, but other things are more difficult to shorten.  After awhile one feels like they're looking at some text message a child wrote on a mobile phone.

Aside from that, at a factor of 78 (or less) on a 1920x1200 resolution monitor, one can only describe the text size as grossly unreadable.  If I ever have the money, I will buy Nikos a proper 24" monitor, just so he can experience these things for himself, and then maybe it'll get some attention.

Yeah, I know it's only a cosmetic thing, but some of us are getting older and the eyes fade faster each day.  And too, too many things in this world are abbreviated these days.  It be nce 2 wrt n cmpt sntnces {Sic}

Hmm - is this feature only available in the pro version?  I have the lite version.

it should work for lite too; check which layout you are using and adjust its properties (see the drop-down box near the top of the settings window and your Window menu in xplorer2)

Hmm - can't find any settings manager, i'm using the defult Window setting.  In my xplorer2 folder inside zabkat, there is no executable named xplorer2_UC.exe, nor is there on inside my Programs folder --  ??  I'm missing something here...
Thanks for you patience!

The Lite version executable is simply xplorer2.exe
The settings editor is x2SettingsEditor.exe

YES!  START>PROGRAMS>XPLORER2 LITE>ADVANCED SETTINGS took me there.  I have to run it before opening up xplorer2, else i must logoff and log back in (shutting down xplorer2 alone isn't enough unless i shut it down in Windows Task Manager).

Navigating to the ZABKAT>XPLORER2_LITE folder and clicking on x2Settingseditor didn't work, it gave me a command to use the /A switch.  Since i'm trying out LiteStep, i couldn't find the commandline -- but eventually found this and got the program and increased the fonts.

Thanks guys!

Unrelated question...I started using xplorer2 to lighten up Windows and reduce the possibility of Viruses (i.e., not use Windows Explorer -- or Internet Explorer).  I could really lighten up by installing BB4Win or GeoShell, but i'm setting up other ppl's machines and they would mutiny!  Soo i'm wondering if anyone there has used LiteShell and found it faster (i.e., less a resource hog) than the default Windows XP shell--?  It's a lot easier interface for a novice than other alternate shells.  (Hope that's not too off-topic, i'm new to this forum.)

it's best you started the settings editor from your start menu which includes the /A switch for you

if you find that xplorer2 is running all the time, then open any folder with it then press <alt+X> to quit it fully, then you won't need to reboot

finally, once you are in the settings editor watch out which layout you are editing. See the snapshot a bit further up, there is a drop down box near the top that says "Layout: default layout". You should also change the settings for your x2solo layout which you use for your explorer replacement mode

Got it...that would explain why it seemed to revert at one point.  Thanks again.
