Hi,
I'm running 1.8.0.11 LITE on Windows 7. I can view folders but whenever I double click on any type of file I get the following warning in a Windows dialogue box...
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have appropriate permission to open the file".
I am running the program as Administrator and I have also removed and re-installed it twice.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks, Andy

Nikos / Cosmo,
Thanks for your suggestions. I tried using xplorer2 in "standard user" mode (rather than Administrator) but I still has the same problem.
Cosmo, I can open file from within W.E no problem. I have the issue with xplorer2 in all folders.
I love the product so I'm really keen to find a solution and thatnks for your help so far.

Very strange, so I have no plan to help, just some ideas.
You did not answer my last question, if you are able to create a new file (using F7) and reopen this one in x2.
What about viewing a file using Ctrl-q (not quite sure, if this works in x2 lite) or F3, is this possible? - If not, can you open a file inside editor2, if you start ed2 via Start-Menu and open a file via the File - Open - Dialog?
Is the problem related to documents and / or executables? Are you able to start a program by double-clicking the EXE-file?
Are you able to open any folder from inside x2 by using the context menu and choosing "Explorer" or "Open"? If so, can you open files from inside this WE window (which is in this case a child of x2)?
Are you able to open the properties of the files (using F12 inside x2 or via context menu)?

Kilmatead, problem still there after full shut down and re-boot.
Cosmo, I can create a new file with F7 but can't open it by double clicking.
ctrl q doesnt work in Lite. Nothing happens at all when I press F3.
I cant open files or start .exe files. I can open any folder / sub-folder.
I can use the properties option without any problems.
Thanks again.

Even more strange. Although reading the properties and opening a file are 2 different actions there is something wrong with the error message (reported in your first post).werdnap wrote:I can use the properties option without any problems.
You missed to answer the question, if you can open a file from a explorer windows, which got opened as a x2-child (see my previous post).
Another idea: Activate the guest account in Windows for testing and see, if the problem is there the same.
