How can I turn off folder tabs?

Does anyone know how to turn off folder tabs? I've looked everywhere I can think of with no successe. Thanks for any assistance.

You said in the other thread which you started that you have been using x2 for years, and last posted that you had resolved the situation.
I'm confused.
What have you done/are you doing differently since you started having this issue?
What version ox x2 are you running, and on what version on windows?
Have you updated from a really old (pre- 1.1) version of x2?
Are you hitting Ctrl+Insert (which creates a tab) by mistake?
[ditto for Middle-Mouse-Button-click when over a folder pane.]
Or do you just want to close the tab(s) that are open?
or hide the tab strip when not in use?
Have you read the Tab Bar section of the User Manual to learn about the feature, how to invoke it and how to control it?

perhaps you have babylon translator and you see tabs popping up all over the place?

fgagnon, I'm using version 1.6.5.3 with winxp. I said in the previous thread that I turned them off somehow (not knowing how) and since then they have mysteriously returned. Ah, the middle mouse button...that must be what's doing it, since I recently started using the middle mouse button as a global hotkey with a dictionary app. Yes I want to "hide the tab strip when not in use" or turn it off competely, and I still can't find the command. I skimmed through the tab bar section and couln't find it - thanks for your help.

In changes.txt, for v1.7.1.0, it says:
* Middle mouse button over a folder pane opens new tab; ...
But the behavior I see is for MMB in the tree pane (v1.8.0.11).
I don't know whether it was any different for v1.6.5.3 (the version salo66 is running).

The "Hide the tab strip when not in use" option is a registry tweak (deprecated), or available in later versions via the Advanced Settings Editor x2SettingsEditor.exe released with v1.7.0.3 of x2.
Even so, I suspect that the default MMB behavior is similar to what you are experiencing. I doubt it can be turned OFF completely. Nikos might be able to suggest something. Or there may be a way to configure that key combo to be more focused on your app and not ping x2. AutoHotKey experts on the forum may have suggestions -- I don't know much about AHK.
