2 is the limit, for each frame at least
but with the new xplorer2 you can have as many windows open as you wish without putting much burden to your system's resources
I'm using 2x from about one/two year (expecially since it's more stable and efficient) and I feel the need to have more than two windows because I'm a webmaster and I don't like to have to many different windows on the screen, who never have enough space and focus while dragging'n'dropping files.
So, yesterday I tested x2 very quickly (I was very afraid regarding "early alpha edition"...)... but now I'll re.install again!
This doesn't fit at all my needs. I need to have just ONE istance of x2 with different frames in just one window. So, in case of three file panes, I'll have them in colums or rows, if I have four of them I'll have the screen divided in two rows and two colums and so on.
Is it possible to add this as a feature for the future?
And I would prefer the windows in a butterfly pattern.
In the center there should be a small version of the whole window (which could be larger than the desktop), like the overview tool some graphic programs have.
Then, between de wings of the butterfly I could put my desktop items.
And, in the 'eyes' on the wings you could put an ontop of all button that toggle show/hide so I could use other applications and switch back fast.
Pleeeaase
I too have wished for multiple panes in 2xExplorer. I've used other software that does this but they all end up crashing my system or are so buggy that I return to 2xExplorer and just open multiple instances. I just installed xplorer2 and am looking forward to some of the features.
One of the things I didn't like about 2xExplorer is that I have lots of drive letters and they end up going past the bottom of the drivebar. There is no scroll bar to get to the last drive letters so I have to manually type in the drive letter or go to the explorer pane and scroll to the correct one. I really like the drivebar but don't see it in xplorer2. No options either for that matter. Can't wait for the realease! Keep up the good work.
Are you ever planning on charging for this software? It's such a great product for free!
I could have more than 26 if it was possible.Even at 800 x 600 res.
No scrolling necessary. Are you moveing them into position with the mouse ?Mine are positioned horizontally.Drag the bar there.
