Control sort order?

Post by mgb »

Is there any way to control the sort order of folders in xplorer
I find that it always defaults to reverse sort order of my C: drive
I have tried correcting the sort order and  'save prog state on exit' but it seems to ignore this.
Strangely, if I have 2 tabs open, one displaying my C: drive and one showing D: then it sorts D: correctly but always starts with C: in reverse sort order.

for sort order on the right hand side, click on any sort header or use View > Arrange by menu. For the left side (tree) right click 'nowhere' and pick sort by name from the menu

That works temporarily but as soon as I close and restart xplorer it goes back to reverse sort, I have also found that if I have C: drive displayed and normal sort order set, if I open any folder or another drive then go back to C: it reverts to reverse sort.

I am also having a problem with it not remembering settings for column widths and is there any way to get rid of the '<folder>' label from the 'size' column.

if you are using the lite version then the only explanation is that you don't save settings on exit; use Actions > Save settings now menu

Have double-checked and I had 'save settings on exit' selected, 'save settings now' does not help either, it still goes back to reverse sort if I click on a folder then go back to C:\

Sorry, I had missed that, I think it is the lite version but it is in the trial period for the pro features.

if you have used this per-folder settings command then that's the answer to your issue. Browse a folder without custom settings (one without a desktop.ini file) and exit xplorer2 from there, then your settings will stick. See here for more information
