nikos, my Template folders & files are in a top level folder called Templates, so the Duplicate feature wouldn't work for me.

However BRX's post has made me realise that I have another way to do what I want.   Link Shell Extension has a Create Hardlink Clone feature, it creates hardlinks for the folder contents and preserves the folder attributes.

I use LSE extensively for junctions & symlinks so its not a problem for me to use it to clone folder with hardlinks.

A full function ctrl/alt/h would still be nice to have

Thanks again BRX, this time for putting my brain into gear :D

My feature requests:

1. Undo

2. Toolbar icon equivalent with alt-x, so that x2 can completely be closed without the need to switch to the keyboard or using the file-menu via mouse.

3. Advanced option to assign the administrator-command with a custom layout.

My request for correcting a silly misbehavior:

Make the buttons for changing values as in the "additional rules" dialog of the find-dialog behave as expected (for sizes, dates and so on), that means, up is more and down is less - and not against all natural understanding and in different dialogs differently behaving.

Yes, that is an old issue.

You pointed out the up-side-down spin controls ("drehfeld" in German) back in 2009.
http://forum.zabkat.com/viewtopic.php?p=44 ... feld#44939

I also pointed it out when x2 was in early development (2003-2004).
e.g.:
from October 2003 >> http://forum.zabkat.com/viewtopic.php?p=5869&#5869
and
from April 2004 >> viewtopic.php?p=9452&#9452

Correcting this behavior is long overdue.

a quirk that has established itself as behaviour for 7 odd years is now de facto. If i change it more people will be upset ;)

@ more people will be upset -
I doubt it.
Rather I think most folks will say:
"At last! ... that #%$@! annoyance is fixed."

In Move & Copy dialogues provide ability to select the Tab in Opposite pane as the target, similar to existing selector provided for current pane - i.e. a drop down button

Have it default to the current (visible) tab, but make the others available.

There was already the suspicion here, that something like this would be the reaction.

In other words:
This bug is a feature.
It is some time ago since I read such a nonsense!

Strangely the one "people", which would be upset because of an error correction   , must be a very undercover contemporary: I only read in the past from users (all customers :!: ), who requested the correction.

Hopefully new features will take very long time, so that we will be protected against newly created de factos and upset people.

whoever thought of putting germans and greeks together in one union was totally spaced out :)

I divide between 2 types of developers:
There are the ones, which correct faults and eliminate bugs.
And there the other ones, who do not care about bugs, leave them as they are (sometimes for 7 years, as stated above) and tell strange excuses ("people might be upset after fault correction").

Both types of devs can be found in between German, English, American and probably Greek (I do only know 1 Greek dev). So, the last reply is totally dementia, off topic and pure expression of helplessness, how to "explain" this (and other) bug conservation to paying customers.

Strangely you had no pleas for accepting Euros from your German customers. And do we now get the NATO (as Fred's country is not involved in the EU) and the UNO (as narayan's country is not member of the NATO and the EU) involved with the bug?

At the end: Such statement gives a weak picture about a developer, for a moderator such kind of nationalism is not acceptable.

I thought nikos was referring to Germans & Greeks being in the same Trade Union

Whoever dreamed that a monetary union could work in a disjoint fiscal context was not only spaced out, but they had obviously not even understood Macro Economics 101.

Duration

Post by bmolony »

Maybe this is asking too much???
It sure would be nice if the file panel column header "Duration" actually worked.
I know it might be probably difficult to actually implement.
After all there are so many file types such as MP3, MID, WAV, etc.
But, at the risk of repeating myself,
It sure would be nice!!!! :)

Try using the Length column instead.

Thanks! I would not have thought of that one.
Seems Duration would be more logical.
But then who says Microsoft is logical, right? :)

That works for MP3 but not for MIDI files.
Not sure what else it might work for.
Will see as time goes by.

When I drag/drop or copy/paste a file into a folder the Contents column is incremented, as one would expect.

When I drag/drop or copy/paste a file into a folder symlink or junction the Contents column is not incremented, as one might hope it would.

A Refresh has to occur before the Contents count is updated for folder junctions and symlinks - afaik the different between junctions and folder symlinks is moot.

Could this be fixed in version 2 please.

bmolony Length wont tell you the run time of MK4, FLV and MPG files, nor will Duration, I think it also fails on some of the more obscure audio files.  This puppy will give run time and a lot more on most things http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en.
