Can't get /S argument to work

Post by Bobbob »

Hi all!  Newbie here.  I initially installed x2 without making it the default explorer to try it out.  Made sure I could do what I wanted via the /S argument and decided to make it the default.  So I uninstalled it via Revo and reinstalled it, ticking to make it the default explorer. Now, I can't get the /S argument to work.  I saved a layout named 'Folder'.  My shortcut target is C:\!DL\!Temp /S:Folder.  This worked fine in the previous install but now it always comes up using my Default layout settings.  What am I missing?  Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

when xplorer2 opens as explorer replacement then it uses the command line options from the registry, not the shortcut icon. So you must edit the registry for your /S stuff

or more simply, make what you need the default layout so you don't need to specify some other layout with /S

Thanks for the quick reply.  But I'm confused.  I want to be able to use the Layouts to launch different folders directly into different layouts rather than always launching into the default layout and then having to select a different layout.  I have a layout I want general xplorer2 use to start up in (Default) and a layout I want my user folders to start up in (Folder - without a tree, etc.).  Maybe I'm just dim, but I guess I need a little more specific instruction on how to do that if possible.  Thanks.

this is not possible through explorer replacement
what you need is the professional version that can save a different layout (view mode really) for each folder. This is explained here
