Unable to preview PDF files

Post by Another_xplorer2user »

I'm using 2.0.0.0 [Unicode] x64 7/21/2011.

No PDF files show anything in either the "Draft preview" or "Native" tabs of the preview pane.

How can I resolve this? Thank you.

See this x2 blog for common solutions to Adobe (most likely X) not playing nice with x2 previews.  An alternative to those listed, which Nikos continually neglects to mention, is to use the PDF-XChange Viewer (superior to all others ), being sure to tick the box for its Shell Extension when installing - however, any of the other solutions should work as well - just be sure to select the x64 version of any extension when offered.  If one really wishes to muddy the issue, this preview handler is specifically mentioned in x2's changelog, though I know not why.  But read the blog first, and choose your evil after.

The current version of x2 is 2.0.0.3, by the way, though I don't believe any of the recent changes related to PDFs specifically.

I wasn't really aware of this PDF shell extension -- that's what happens when you bury links inside drivel ;)

does it offer 32/64 bits separately? How about a native tab preview hanlder? (I think only adobe provides that)

Adobe couldn't code their way out of a plastic bag.
