one of these days kilmatead will come up with a tool to customize this file, in the meantime there's not much you can do unless you are a HTML black belt

I think, Nikos, he was asking a more general question (not everyone reads changelogs religiously)...

The file is only needed for customising the display format of the Details pane (View -> Details Pane) if you should so desire.  If you don't use the Details pane, or are happy enough with the default display elements that it shows, don't worry about it.  :D  (The file is really just for weirdos to play with, anyway - because if weirdos don't have sufficient toys to play with they usually go off and invent atomic bombs and other overwhelmingly useful things like that.)

And when I do get around to finishing this utility thing ("one of these days") it will only provide a more human method of organising columns to group by name (rather than by cryptic number code) - anything fancy like formatting, etc, will still require knowledge of HTML voodoo, which, to be honest, I'm firmly convinced some guy invented purely as a practical joke, as nothing about it seems logical, friendly, efficient, or practical.  However, when in Rome, learn Latin...

Sorry Kilmatead, but we're already anticipating a fully integrated details pane  html program development environment.  "Visual HTML 2012" or such.

Given that there are already some open source html gizmos out there, maybe you can piggy-back on one of them and just optimize it for x2(?)

Such as?  (HTML is an evil world filled with evil monsters that hide under the bed, so don't hold your breath, but I will look at anything.)

Yes, Kilmatead, that's true. Thanks for your explanations. Actually this x2details file might be something for me cause I am on details view all the time. So if I get this right one can create his/her own details column and sort stuff with it or use groups view? Sounds pretty cool.

thx, Tobias

No, this is related to the Details Pane itself, not details view.  The Details Pane is a separate dockable pane (like the Tree or Preview panes, etc) in x2 version 2.1.0.0:
The Changelog wrote:View > Details pane menu command opens an information pane like the one in windows explorer, showing extended information on the focused item. This is a combination of quick content preview and file attributes, depending on the current file type. You can edit many properties 'in-place' by clicking on the IE-like anchor links.
As the information in this pane is displayed/formatted via HTML controls, one may use the x2Details.htm file to customise that display with more/less column information as you please about the focused object.  You may also do completely mad shite as well, if you are the sort of person who doesn't take anything seriously and believes everything in nature exists for no reason other than our own personal amusement.
