FWIW - Download for installation program for 2xExplorer Z1

Post by tmarkoski »

For those who have an interest-

I have built a complete installation program for 2xExplorer Z1 to make it easier to pass on to casual PC users to install on their systems.

I have included the HTML Help file as part of the setup so there is no longer a need to download it separately.

http://home.carolina.rr.com/cncms/2xExplorer_Setup.exe

The entire setup fits on a single 3-1/2" Floppy Disk.

The setup was built with the open source app Inno Setup v4.0.8 8)

Kind Regards-

thanks for that
the reason why i don't include setups is the size;
the setup package is nearly 3 times larger than the archive!

Nikos-

No problem.
It's useful app and a professional looking setup helps expose the app to those who otherwise wouldn't bother because of their lack of PC skills.

I understand your concern about size but the claim about size is a bit specious as the zip file is useless to many casual PC users.
2xExplorer.exe is 598,016 bytes all byitself.
2xExplorer.chm is 154,780 bytes.
The extracted files from ReleaseNotes.zip and the rest of the files total 224,028 bytes.

I've uploaded a new setup build.

This setup exe is only 874,423 bytes.
That is only 89.5% of the total of 976,824 bytes installed.
I'd say that's a pretty efficient setup distribution compared to InstallShield.

Please feel free to put it up on your site for others.
I'm sure it will help increase your exposure.

The problem is not the users but the bandwidth consumed over this side!

But if you can host the file yourself, then no problem, I'll add the link in the main page
