Change your shortcut to include the drive you want displayed as the first (or second for the right pane in dual pane mode) parameter.
command line in your shortcut should be something like:
<your path to 2X>\2xExplorer.exe c:\
This will open the C:\ folder for you in the left or only pane.
Read the 2xExplorer.chm help file for more tips (if you don't have it, it can be dowloaded from the site)

Re: new user
Choose the option "show drive letters on drivebar" in view/options.It can be moved anywhere by dragging.pauledgarm wrote:How can I get 2xEplorer to open to my C drive instead of to the desktop?
Thank you
2x will open where you closed it.If it was desktop, you'll see desktop.

Save settings
I can't locate "save settings" is this an x2 option.I prefer to return to where i left it,except if it's set to a cd drive and you plan to remove it.kev wrote:or u could set it to always open in c: (and antoher folder of choice in the other pane) by making sure save settings is on, then exiting, then re-opening and turn save settings off. now it will always open where u want it no matter where u close it

Save
With both 2x and x2 actions doesn't have save, only new file or new folder.mimeryme wrote:On the menu: Actions>Save Settings
If you leave that checked, then you'll get what you want zipit. It'll always remember where you were last though (the last "instance" of x2).
The help file has no reference to save.

Re: Save
I think you are referring to the context menu. What mimeryme meant was the 'Actions' menu in the menubar at the top of your 2X or X2 window.zippit wrote:With both 2x and x2 actions doesn't have save, only new file or new folder.

You should find the menu items 'Save settings' and 'Save settings now' in there!! (Only Save settings with 2X I believe, X2 has both)

zippit to answer your question i mean 2xexplorer, since that is what pauledgarm asked about, although this option is present (and more) in x2. I will be more specific :
In 2xexplorer go to View, Options... then you should see a box marked "Save program state on exit". If this is checked, then you may navigate to your two favourite folders, one in each pane. You then exit the program. You then restart the program, go straight to the save state option and turn it off.
Now you can exit wherever you like and it will always re-open in your favourite places.
funny that u say u can't find this option in 2x, yet u advised pauledgarm of the "Show drive letters on Drivebar" option that is right next to it!! (even though this is completely irrelevant...!!)

hmmm that's odd.... i am using 2xExplorer Z1 Omega build 1.4.1.12, but this option has been there as long as i remember...
so when you choose "View" in the menubar, then "Options..." do you get a new window titled "Program Options"? And if so is there no "Save program state on exit" under the "General" tab?
If not maybe ur version of 2x is from a different planet!

Once again a display of the limited view of zippit
I really would like it if zippit could send a comment once in a while which would HELP another user, in stead of giving advice on how to comment.
This forum tries to help the (more or less) experienced users of 2X and X2 to be able to get the most out of the software. Please do try to CONTRIBUTE zippit. Thank you, in advance
