Three things about the Hold Autorefresh feature that could be improved IMO:
1) When deleting a file in x2 with Hold Autorefresh enabled then the file is not removed from the list. This is rather confusing for one (or at least I)would expect that the Autorefresh feature just acts upon events outside x2, not internal actions.
2) The Hold Autorefresh option is cleared automatically when navigating to another folder, which really sucks because now I have to re-enable it each and every time I navigate (back) to my downloads folder.
3) Hold Autorefresh should really be (temporarily) enabled automatically when renaming files. Currently it is near to impossible te rename a file or folder in any directory with files that are updated externally because the editor is automatically cancelled when typing the new name (due to the auto refresh).
x2: Hold Autorefresh improvement suggestions.

1) x2 doesn't delete anything, the folder does, so it can't tell unless autorefresh is on
2) but then you'd get upset that you'll have to manually deactivate it whenever you don't intend to go back to your downloads folder
3) this is harder than it seems to sort out. But if you "hold autorefresh" you can rename without interruptions

1) Can't you implement some sort of "Smart Auto Refresh" that instead of reloads the whole file list, just applies the necessary changes to the current list then? Optionally limiting this to delete operations (for these do not require re-sorting the list).
2) Well, you've got a point there. Nevertheless I think it would make more sense to make it a "global" setting for the panel because just about all settings in x2 are global for the panel (e.g. the visual / folder filter, the sort method, etc.). In that case it would be preferable to add some sort of toolbutton to the toolbar that indicates the current state, just like the visual filter. Maybe you can combine it with a general Refresh button (which is also still missing from the toolbar, but which is very important indeed).
3) Yes I know this, it is the only way to properly rename a filename actually. But this really is not intuitive for then I would *always* have to enable the Hold Autorefresh option before I can rename a file safely or alternatively I would have to be 100% sure that the folder in which I am renaming is not updated (which is hard, e.g. how am I suppose to know if some application will add something to my C:\ root ?). In any case I don't want to be bothered with making the descision whether or not I want to be able to "safely" rename a file or not. I just want to rename the file!
You should really sort this one out because currently the rename feature just *appears* to be really buggy (I know it really isn't).
In general: Do not underestimate the importance of being able to work with folders of which the content is updated often. It may be hard to get this right, but it is ever so important in a multi-tasking environment.
