How to Custom Group by a Certain Folder Level?

Post by marcoast »

Currently if I sort by Path, it'll divide the group by all of its sub-folders. How do I make it stop grouping after a certain folder?

For example:

*\Main Folder\Folder 1\Sub-folder 1\Sub-folder 1.1
*\Main Folder\Folder 2\Sub-folder 2\Sub-folder 2.1\Sub-folder 2.1.1

It will be two different groups because it divides it all the way down to the last sub-folder.

How do I make it group by, in this case, only the folder after the "Main Folder" and divide it based on that, regardless of the sub-folders under it?

In the screenshot below, how could I make the files group only to the U:\_GIS_ folder level?

at present this isn't possible but I have an idea about regexp based grouping that will come in a future version that will cater for things like this which is similar in concept with what you're asking for
