Well, in that case, by all means forget the cat and get a borzoi instead!
Great for rats, cats, even ground moles and opossum. However, if the neighbor's child has a kitten, then it's near certain you will become the evil ogre of the street after the borzoi does it's thing there too when the kitten wanders, as they tend to do, into the borzoi's domain. Too bad the Russians didn't put kittens on the verboten list when training their borzoi to take out wolves and other "play toys".
All the above is from personal experience.
Our male borzoi would watch the ground where the moles were tunneling, see the ground move, then dig the the little varmit out in seconds. Unfortunately, they can't imagine anything bad could come from a decision to attack skunks. If you have any of those in the area be sure to have a generous supply of tomato juice on hand!

Oh and on cold evenings, the borzoi will keep you much warmer than a cat.
