A previous post noted this issue for create directory; but I find it an annoyance in many other cases too. (ctrl-D right now)
The response before was:

in general the tree isn't meant for regular file management
I suggest an extension to the design. I think it's simpleto implement, and I can't think of any case where it would reduce the usability of X2:
Whenever a 'not applicable' command is issued from the tree pane, and the active pane is showing the same directory as is selected in the tree pane (a very common situation; especially when the tree pane has focus), just apply it to the active pane.

Yes please. XP2 knows what User is trying to do, and it knows what 'current directory' is in both Tree and Active pane. Wish it would auto-switch from Tree Pane to Detail pane (if needed for the next step to work) and then proceed with the command. Maybe even switch back to Tree pane. Good enhancement to usability. Using 3.3.0.0 [U]. Registered since 1.8.
