Is there a way to turn off the alert sounds (the windows critical stop sound) when opening/clicking into a new folder - this seems absolutely useless and is very annoying? The only solution that works is to disable warnings and beeps in the options - but this makes no sense as I would still want alerts when something is actually wrong!
edit: I just noticed it's more annoying than I thought and not sure how I didn't notice this before, but it appears the same alert sound plays when clicking into every open folder tab after starting the explorer2 after opening the advanced option.

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
This is in no way normal behaviour, and is indicative of something (a misbehaving shell-extension?) specific to your system. What is the error/warning message reported in x2's status-bar (View -> Toolbars -> Status bar) when the sound occurs? Just browsing folders should have no such side-effects.
What is your x2 version, OS version, and are you running as Admin (elevated), are you using networked folders or local, previews on or off, etc...?

Xplorer2 version: 3.4.0.4 ULT x64 7/12/2017
Windows 10 Creators Edition
Not running as admin
the folders being browsed that causes the alert are networked
Status bar simply shows "ready" on the left and file/drive space information on the right - there is never an error message when this occurs[/u]

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
try using TOOLS > OPTIONS menu then from General property page tick off "beep on warnings and errors" checkbox and see if it helps

per my post, i've tried that and it works. However, that is not a solution as it disables any beeps and warnings for real errors, which I don't want to do.

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
if xplorer2 beeps, it must not like something. Is there any error message on the statusbar?
it certainly doesn't do it for me

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
do you have the folder tree pane on? Try turning off display elements one by one and see if some of them makes the beep go away?

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
Finally started to narrow this down. Took your advise and turned of the folder tree and noticed that not only where there no beeps/warnings, but I saw that the warning sound was specifically when opening a previously un-browsed folder with files - so no warning if opening a folder with sub-folders. Further more, I checked various options settings regarding folder tree and found that the issue appears to be the folder sync. When "Keep synchronized with folder in active view pane" is check, I get the warning sound, but when unchecked, no warning sound. I also noticed that for a very brief moment (split second), the status bar flashes from Ready to "reading folder contents" back to "Ready". So here's the summary:

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder
ok the problem is that you combined automatic tree sync with "expand subfolders" advanced setting which causes beeps if there are no subfolders. I will fix it
