Got this error trying to open a .doc in a deep folder.
I thought x2 was handling long filenames now? Total UNC file name with path is only 265 characters.
Filename is too long

do you have the latest xplorer2 version?
working in deep folders isn't a good idea because one of the problems is that you cannot open the documents
xplorer2 is deep path aware but MS Word isn't

That explains it.
I'm displaying folders with X2 ver 4.3.0.2 ult x64, but WORD can't open.
Works when I map a network location to a near parent location to reduce the apparent depth of the target folder.
