Move folder tab from below to above!

Post by labamba »

Can i move the folder tab that by default stays in the bottom of the explorer bar to top.
Please see the image to understand more.

I find tweaking the ini files to be little tricky. Hence the doubts.
Also can i make the xploere2 to quit or minimize just by pressing the Esc key. That would be handy. :?:

Tools | Options | Advanced:
Folder tabs on top.

Customize keyboard:
File | Exit:
Assign the Esc key.

This is in V5, V6 doesn't work for me. I assume it can be done in V6.

Just checked 6.0.0.3 (portable on a USB stick) - Nikos has changed things (for no good reason)!!
Tools | Options | General | Appearance | Tabs on top.

However, fortunately, the key mapping is the same.

Thank you a ton, what a relief to see the folder tab on the top. I m also using 6.0.0.3 Ult x32bit (i think x64 has the same affect).
I was comparing XYplorer and xplorer2, n i found this to be more polished. What a program. Ok i m buying this version. But it wouldn't hurt if
there was a discount for this program.

Code: Select all

I found that too. ur another settings :
Customize keyboard:
File | Exit:
Assign the Esc key.
Esc= Exit and Close also Exits the program directly. Kind a leaving me dry. I am thinking a minimized xplorer would feel better.
But i didn't find any thing mentioned in the settings.
I want the program to be minimized, u see friend. Can u see it for me, i m a novice user and for my purpose opening a lot of Windows Explorer, kind
a hangs my system. So a dedicated xplorer fits my needs. Can u look it up, once more. I m totally novice at it.
For an old system like mine, with Dual Core and 4 GB RAM, it responds beautifully.

Okay i found one settings thats:
Tools|Advanced Option|Click Yes for the Settings(Yes/No)|Main Frame(Dual Panel)| Minimize main window to system tray.

This takes affect immediately. However its not like pressing Esc Key.
That is something i didn't find.
Did u find it.

I don't recommend taking over ESC key, it is internally used in lots of other places, e.g. going from addressbar back into view

xplorer2 doesn't have its own command to minimize the window, these are standard windows management commands available from the system menu and the window titlebar buttons

I threw together a macro that appears to minimise the window (in V5):

Code: Select all

KEYDOWN alt
KEYDOWN space
KEYUP alt
KEYUP space
KEYDOWN n
KEYUP n
Nikos: will the 'KEYUP n' work when x² is minimised, or will the 'n' key be left down?

you can use SENDKEY alt+space
but it won't work unless the main window is in focus, e.g. FINDFRAME xplorer

I thought about using SENDKEY, but wasn't sure exactly what window to define. Now you've shown me:

Code: Select all

FINDFRAME xplorer
SENDKEY alt+space
SENDKEY n
Works fine. I see that the Argument for FINDFRAME only needs to be part of the title, not even the "²" is required.

I might get to like this macro stuff :)

Hey that works. Instead of bringing the mouse pointer to the minimize button and again moving the mouse pointer to the active windows.
This only required Alt+ Space & N.
It works, i like it ! i like it. Great job nikos and Gandolf.
This is a great way of minimizing. Hey today i'll sleep better.

Alt+space & x to Maximise
Alt+space & r to Restore

I use them all the time. Don't like the "rat".

Sweet dreams!
