I've sent in multiple "crash information" files. When I send in the email with the dump file attached, there is a place in the email where I'm supposed to fill in "what I was doing" when the crash occurred. Often times I can't remember exactly what I was doing. Is there some kind of tool I can use to record that information automatically, which I could send in along with the dump file? Or any other tool which might help diagnose the persistent xplorer2 crashes on my desktop, which are worse than ever?
(The crashes were bad on my old desktop, but I had to migrate from that desktop to a new desktop; unfortunately I seem to have also migrated the cause of the problem, because the crashes on the new desktop are worse than ever. I have no xplorer2 crashes on my laptops.)
I've just discovered the blog post about the Reliability Monitor and the DLL blocker, I'll try that if I can identify a rogue DLL as described there. https://www.zabkat.com/blog/block-shell-extensions.htm

Re: crash debugging tools?
sorry I couldn't be much help with your crashes
if I remember well, the preview pane was to blame
so ask yourself if you have a different eg PDF program on your laptop where things go smoothly
another idea that might help is to export your "stable" settings from your laptop and import them to your ailing desktop
