Since I can't help but delight in being a PITA for you, and straying slightly off-topic by inverting the topic, reading the blog made me wonder if "my little plugin" could also show folder sizes inside phones (if properly configured within ES), if it were allowed to...

But since, in your infinite wisdom , you decided not to allow plugins to work in the kind of "special folders" a plugged-in phone presents, I whipped up a little proof of concept, just for the fun of it... the screenshot extract below is what the search-results arranged as sizes/folders/paths look like displayed in ES itself...



..and the text below it is what my plugin gave back to me, submitting the bottom literal path as an arbitrary query:

It would appear that 35.3 == 35.3 even when universes collide.

But if you are in file management you will know how to get the interface, surely.

So it just kinda makes those in file management wonder, surely, just what might be possible if x2 itself presented such paths to plugins...

And just to firmly ruin your understanding of the cosmos, if I (just for fun) query a crazier path like:

Should I just let you guess what happens?

Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when it's all cold and breezy outside... surely...

Ah, the sweet sound of the armchair adventurist as he decays into late middle-age. It always amuses me how many athletes retire only to get itchy a couple of years later, when they get it into their heads that maybe a comeback isn't out of the question. What is in their mentality which deludes them so?

Whatever it is, you're a case model of the opposite. Your mum must have instilled a heck of an "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude within thee. Isn't 95% of playing poker about knowing what you're leaving on the table, not so much worrying about what you have?

(That being said, having just spent a couple of days chasing down the silliest WinXP compatibility issues in my own code, I hate to think of what your approach to delayed-loading libraries looks like at scale.)

folder statistics command FWIW works for mobile phones (so you can compare the data against your own approach)
I must commend your drive for consistency but someone who needs continuous folder size info for their smartphone may have issues ... you know freudian issues

I only have one so I can get groceries delivered to my door. Years of foraging and shopping with the great unwashed makes the sprit grow weary.

I wasn't saying I needed smartphone foldersizes (more of a Jungian man myself), this was just an experiment to see if it worked or not. And it does. So, I'm just doing a community service by highlighting the sustenance you are withholding from the children in the streets. 'Tis the season for Tiny Tim and all that.
