Managing "Desktop" entries

Post by Ubtree »

I have setup a new PC and (of course) installed xplorer2, but there are more entries under "Desktop" in the Folders Pane than I was expecting. The entries are as follows:

Home
Mobile Phone
Desktop
Documents
Downloads
Music
Pictures
Videos
Username
Computer name
Libraries
Network
Control Panel
Recycle Bin

These items are shown in xplorer2 in the c:\Users\Username\Desktop folder, but they don't appear in that folder when I look in Windows File Explorer (with "Show hidden files, folders and drives" checked, and "Hide protected operating system files" unchecked).

I don't understand the nature of these entries. (Are they the actual folders?) I would like to remove most of them from the Folders pane, but would be grateful for advice on how to do so safely.

I suspect you need to disable the Quick Access List:

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried it, but it only removes the Quick Access items (which I want), but leaves in place the Desktop items (most of which I don't want).

Yes, that is of course the answer. I was clearly used the wrong terms when searching Quick Start, and missed it when navigating the right-click options.

Many thanks for your help, and all the work that you put into this superb program.
