Getting Duplicate Folders in Tree

Post by OldSchool2 »

I have seen x2 show me duplicate folders in the tree view on the left panel. I was able to reproduce this by opening x2, selecting one of the folders on the left such as Desktop or Documents and pressing Ctrl-R. X2 opens a new cloned window when I press Crtl-R which seems weird in itself, but after that I see the duplicate folders in the original window.

Windows 11 Pro, 64-bit, 24H2 OS Build 26100.3775 with Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.66.0 (whatever that is).
X2 Ultimate - 6.1.0.3 ULT x64 4/12/2025

Yes, it starts normal when I open the app but pressing Ctrl-R while focus is on the tree can cause duplicate folders for Download or Documents to appear.
I don't think I have ever seen it duplicate any other folders than these two.
It doesn't happen every time I press Ctrl-R, but it is pretty easy for me to make it happen. I can make it happen pretty quickly.
This happens on 3 of my Win 11 desktop PCs.

on my w11 it doesn't do it. Probably it's an older version than yours (it's a VM)
moreover my tree looks nothing like yours! all these documents and download folders are under THIS PC, not under desktop!?

what if you collapse and re-expand the desktop branch, will it come back to its senses?

I sent you a PM.
I'll try collapsing the desktop branch and let you know what happens.

thanks for the video
your tree is very strange, even before the duplicate items appear
how can there be a DESKTOP branch under DESKTOP (root)!?
anybody else seeing this on w11?

All my desktops look like this - DESKTOP as the root and everything under it, including another DESKTOP. All were upgraded from Win 10 Pro to Win 11 Pro using an ISO image.

FWIW, I had x2 v4.xx on these PCs before the Win 11 upgrade. After upgrading to Win 11 I upgraded x2 to the most recent version (bought the forever license) and installed it on these PCs.

Collapsing the tree did not help. I am sending another video via PM.

I suspect the upgrade might be part of the reason.

I don't currently have a Win10 install set up in a VM, but I could test and see over the weekend to verify if that is the problem or not.

FWIW, my clean install of Win11 (just 2 days ago) is not showing that at all.
