I get a lot of people reporting that the (May 2025) update for windows 11 has foobared file copy/paste (or drag-drop): no progress dialog is shown.
I don't know why this happens, I will report it to MS, but in the meantime I recommend affected users should switch to robust copy instead, which is better anyway
apparently overwrite confirmations appear, and the file copy happens, albeit silently

Re: w11 bug: progress missing
I experienced this issue today. I noticed that it was normal on the first try, but not subsequent trys. It also seems that the copy/replace dialog that pops up when an existing copy of the file is in the target is different and more verbsose. Running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and SFC /SCANNOW did not help.
I finally uninstalled update: 2025-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5058499)
and now all is back to normal.

Re: w11 bug: progress missing
I have the same problem as the others. I have been using Xplorer2 for years and it's great!
To troubleshoot the issue, I downloaded One Commander from the Windows store. I had the same issue.. first time I got the progress bar but after that, it didn't work anymore. I found a post on Reddit here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/OneCommander/c ... r_showing/
It suggests upgrading OneCommander to version 3.96.2.0 which is what I did. That fixed the problem for OneCommander but, of course, I want to use Xplorer2.
Someone on this thread suggested installing 2025-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5058499). I installed this upgrade but still have the issue with Xplorer2 but OneCommander is still working.
By the way, I'm running Windows 11 pro and recently installed Xplorer2 version 6.1.0.5 x64 5/29/2025.
Maybe this will help someone or if anyone has any ideas, please send them along.

Re: w11 bug: progress missing
One more clue... the progress window in OneCommander seems somewhat smaller than the ones in Xplorer2 and Windows Explorer. I don't know if that is significant but I thought I would mention it.
Thanks again

Re: w11 bug: progress missing
most probably onecommander has switched also to a custom progress window, not sure
to see the progress dialog in xplorer2 for copy/paste use this workaround
to see the progress dialog in xplorer2 for copy/paste use this workaround
Alternatively use TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu and tick "Perform Edit > Paste robustly"; this way copy/paste will be performed using the xplorer² copy dialog (with the latest copy options). Sorry there's no workaround for drag-drop (it still works but without progress indication).

Re: w11 bug: progress missing
Thank you for the update. For my purposes (copying to a network drive), I need to use CTRL+C/CTRL+V to get Robust Copy to work with the settings you recommended. This is fine and will work until Windows fixes its "fixes".
Unfortunately, drag and drop still has the same bug (no progress bar) even though I made the setting change in Advanced Options.
Thanks!!!

Actually I recommended UNINSTALLING the update. This update is optional. I started having the issue right after installing it. After uninstalling it everything was back to normal, at least for me.
