Post by nikos »

use HELP > CHECK FOR UPDATES menu
hopefully you won't see any funny folder icons in spaced-out line mode

One of Kilmatead's utilities, SETFOLDRCOLOR, stopped working with the upgrade to 6.x

I'm currently using 6.2.0.1.

Command line attached to the toolbar button:

Code: Select all

>I:\MISC\SFC\SetFolderColour2_x64.exe $A /Menu
Only change from the previous install (probably 5.4.0.2) was installation of 6.2.0.1 over the existing installation.

Normal operation is to select one or more folders then press the toolbar button to get the menu. Select the color or option and it's applied to all folders selected.

Now, after selecting one or more folders, the folder, or the first folder in a list of folders, is opened in the pane just like I'd selected the folder and pressed ENTER.

Suggestions, comments, questions?

SetFolderColour works just fine on v6... we had these problems before... it's nikos' "new" popup message nonsense replacement for the status-bar, I think. Or one of those settings.

Try Tools -> Advanced Options and type "statusbar" into the little searchbox to get the "Don't use caption messages..." option. That's the most of offensive one, I think? There may be others.

Troglodytes everywhere! You nibble away at the already decaying edges of Western Civilisation, and then wonder why I scorn you and your newfangled horseless carriages! Didn't you ever wonder why all the little old ladies you tried to help across the street just ended up swatting at you with their handbags? There's a UI lesson there!

Kilmatead,

Thanks for replying.

Can't find that option. The only option that comes up in that search is the first item below. It was unchecked, so I checked it, and a two others I wanted to enable.

Settings changed:
+ Always make error messages a dialog, no statusbar
+ Hilight active tab with orange edge link in Windows XP
+ Open new tabs next to the active one

Setfoldercolor still fails.

Next walked through the standard Options and found one to disable:
- Full row selection

Setfoldercolor still fails.

Running out of time for now, and as usual I'll be away from home computer for the next two weeks, so maybe I'll try again then.

Options -> Advanced Options -> Global -> Miscellaneous -> More Options -> "Don't use caption error messages, plain statusbar text is fine"

It's at the very end of "More Options" just on the precipice of the bizarrely named "Extra Options" section.

Also, in the menu from SetFolderColour there should be a "<Configure>" option as the last entry. Clicking that will bring up a dialogue of my typical brand of over-engineered options which includes a section called "xplorer2 integration".

Try disabling everything in there and see what happens. (I honestly don't know what possesses me to create such wildly over-wrought option panels, but maybe in this case it will prove fruitful.)

"Global"?

Found it, reset it ...

OK, still no joy.

Setfolder color > Configure
Turned all options under x2 integration off.

And, still no joy...

Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll drop back to a 5.x until I figure this out.

See you in two weeks.....

(I'll be on using work PC, but that's stuck in ancient times in a 4.x configuration)

I have no explanation - there's nothing in the script that would even come close to being able to open folders as you describe, just an API call for the icon and an optional pane-refresh - and, regardless, it works perfectly for me, no script changes were ever necessary.

Unless you have some bespoke background scripts running which are intended to trap keypresses and force x2 to act like a proper Stepford Wife,, etc (I have one of those), I can't imagine how it's happening.

AutoHotKey?

I have a script running there because I like to time-stamp lots of stuff, so "ddd" gets me a nicely formatted time stamp.

Other than that...

The 4.5.0.1 running on work PC has no issues with any of the utils, except tempertantrum which never worked as advertised. Couldn't figure it out...

This is not the way I want it, thanks for your reply.
What I want is the quick switch function of xplorer2 with listary.

Forgot to mention this before (I've only recently learned to appreciate this command), but shouldn't the info-bar-columns be synced too?

Configuring column-sets for info-bars is a PITA since you can only create a set from a pane itself, not a bar.
