another issue with image EXIF date fields

I use the "Picture Date" field quite a bit to organize photos. It's very useful. It is reportedly derived from the EXIF 'date taken' field.

This works well for jpg and png files that I use. However it doesn't seem to work for my Sony's RAW files (*.arw) as they show up as this:

The Picture date column is <n/a> or blank.
