How to remove new tab icon at the right of open tabs?

I have always used the Tab button in the ribbon to open a new tab and find the + icon a little annoying. I looked in the advanced options for a way to turn it off but was unable to find one. What should I be looking for please?

Not there in 5.5.0.1. Another useless "feature" added in v6

It's actually quite useful if:

A) You don't besmirch your screen with the dreaded "Ribbon"
B) You don't want to waste precious toolbar space with another button
C) You have somehow destroyed or lost the brain cells which maintain <Ctrl+Ins>



That being said, it would make sense to have an option to remove it for the non-ABC people, who may be legion.

I just tried <Ctrl+Ins> and it did nothing. What is it supposed to do?

It's the default hotkey setting for the menubar's File -> New Tab command. Or, at least I think it's the default - I don't recall changing mine. Look at the File menu and the shortcut should be shown there.

Oh wait you use the ribbon... umm... hmm. Yeah, still there, just on the top next to the x2 icon. Same hotkey setting is displayed if you hover over it.

(Yes, just checked, it's the default hotkey.)
