Mass rename issue

Post by andye »

I am using xplorer2 V6.2.0.3 and on one computer and trying to use Mass rename to change several files like A.json and B.bat with the rename template $B.txt. Preview is as expected, rename gives the message 2 item(s) renamed but none will be renamed. Using the type change works correctly. Trying this on another computer works normally.

Just found out that I can get it to work correctly if I turn off "Hide extensions known for known file types" in explorer.

you found the trick.... if extensions are hidden, mass rename can go foobar. To correct it, set the registry option nMaxSlowRename to 0

FUBAR, but if you prefer foo so be it.

Not to be pedantic or anything (who, me?), but outside of the lovely military acronym, in "programmer-speak" it actually is "foo" and "bar", as many examples (to infer an expression as-written may be "unsafe") are often:

if (foo) then bar;

or

while(foo != 10) bar++;

or

foo* = _malloca(sizeof(bar))

...that sort of thing. That it coincides with FUBAR is just a wink of the eye.

I realise that Nikos used it in the former sense, but idiomatic spelling was never his forte, so in this instance (and only in this instance) he might be spared the firing-squad. We'll ambush him later when he truly deserves it - Caesar shall ever be denied the dawn. :twisted:
